Chapter 3

Hari was sitting in his cabin, wandering into memories, about how he had lost people all his life. Initially it was his paternal grandparents to whom he was extremely close. When Hari was studying in his 5th grade, both his grandparents were killed in an accident which occured near East Coast Road. Then, he had lost his friends for life after class 12. He was extremely close to a group of friends, extremely close they were till they split ways to pursue their own education. Hari had gotten into BITS, Pilani and with most of friends staying back in Chennai, he lost touch with them. He couldn't contact them afterwards in any way. Then, he lost his father and Jhabak uncle, as he fondly called him. Hitesh Jhabak was a good friend of Krishnamurthy Iyer, besides being his 'official' moneylender. Now, he lost his mother in a brutal way too. In all these transactions, his only gain had been Meera. He thought he had lost her when school ended itself. but the feelings he had for her hadn't died down. But he was lucky for once, and she had come within his reach. She was almost his now. When his mind was wandering about such thoughts, he heard a knock on the door.

The person who came in was a blonde guy, and he introduced himself as an American. He was John Fleming. He showed a picture of his with Sharda, and this got Hari to trust him. Now, John Fleming told him that he was a private detective in the United States, and ithis heart was burning to punish Sharda's murderers. Hari accepted the offer, and got John Fleming to be the private detective to investigate the case.

Neelakanta Brahmachari called for his friend, supercop 'Chappli' Vignesh. 'Chappli' was a name given to Vignesh Ramkumar, another supercop, and also the AC of police in Pondicherry. He was very famous for rounding up a Bangalore gang which caused havoc in much of India. The whole tracking started in Pondicherry where the gang had commited two thefts and a murder. Vignesh, who was incharge of the case, worked with the evidence the gang had left back, and it finally led him to Mongolia where with some intensive planning and some class execution, he gunned down the gangsters. There he was given the title 'Chappli', as 'Chappli' in Mongolian meant class. Now, Neelakanta Brahmachari wanted Chappli to help him crack the case. Neelakanta was a honest cop, and he had no family. He did once have a family, which was wiped out due to gangsters, and ever since, he became an 'encounter' specialist. He was of the opinion that murderers of innocent people didn't deserve to live, irrespective of what the court decided. In his cases, he generally saw to it that he was the court, and the judge too. The sentence being death sentence. Any character description of Neelakanta Brahmachari was incomplete without the mention of a trait of his. He was a tea-addict, and that too a tea which consisted of 50% tea and another 50% whisky. He thought a drink automatically put his thinking caps on.

Now, Neelakanta and Chappli began investigating on the DNP which was found on the arrow mark. The DNP was written in Old English Text TM font, and had the symbol of a ship behind it. Neelakanta, sipping his customary drink suggested that they look up the dictionary for the names of all the people who had the initials D,N and P in their names. Then, they called Hari and asked him to come and recognise any of the people if he could.

In around ten minutes, Hari had left for office. A call was dialled from the office. "Hello, sir. I'm 406789 speaking. I left the arrow on the body as I was nervous after shooting it. It looks like that might prove costly for us now. Please do something about it immediately sir. Thanks."
And beep went the line...
