Chapter 9

As Jhabak was worrying, he heard the wall behind him break. He turned back to find the 60 odd old man, making his way to the godown, breaking through the hollow wall of the godown in a Harley Davison. He rushed in with full speed. Guess who was sitting behing him? It was Meera. Hari was shocked, but at the same time pleased in the heart of his hearts!!

The bike came to a stop. The old man got down from it. Sensing the opportunity to bring all the nonsense to an end, Neelakanta Brahmachari said, "Police round up!!" This gave Jhabak his second shock of the day. He hadn't in his dreams expected that Ramesh would be a police inspector. As the police rounded the place, the old man walked up, and said, "Iyer, I'm Krishnamurthy Iyer." This sent a huge shock through Neelakanta Brahmachari and Hari. Jhabak's fears were confirmed. The old man was none other than Krishnamurthy Iyer himself. "When you let the ship sink, I was badly injured and before I could die, a Sri Lankan fishermen group saved me. You wanted the golden dagger which I found in my garden, but I refused to give you, and you made stories to kill me. I was treated for 4 years, and slowly I got better and better, and stronger than ever as well. I decided to have my revenge. When I came to India, I rushed home to find it a mess. Then, I went to the cremation ground where I cremated my wife, and from then, I have used the same golden dagger to destroy your clan. First your sons had their share of stabbing, with the dagger. Then the Fleming bastard was sent to the heavens with a golden bullet, the same way I killed Paranjape. Now, I am here to kill you." As he said this, one could see the revenge taking shapes on his face.

Jhabak immediately screamed, "FIRE!!", and his men started a round of firing. He fired at Brahmachari, but Krishnamurthy Iyer would not let him die, and he jumped across to take the bullet right into his heart. He slowly took out his bullet, and shot into Jhabak's temple. The shot went in through one side of the head and came out through the other. Jhabak and Iyer, once friends, died beside each other. Iyer, breathed his last on Hari's lap.

Hari and Brahmachari in the meanwhile, got the remaining shooters to calm down for a while, and they were all rounded up by the police. The case had been cracked, but none of the main involved were caught, all dead. Brahmachari took up the charge for killing Raju and told the court that it happened during an encounter, thereby saving Hari from any punishment. Brahmachari and Chappli were awarded gold medals for their work in the case. Brahmachari recieved Chappli's medal too, posthumously.

That evening, Meera came upto Hari and told him that she was there when the Jhabak brothers were shot. She vaguely recognised his father from the photographs of his she had seen. So she helped him recognise the place where Fleming had taken him by bribing Jhabak's driver. Then she admitted to Hari that the split was her fault and she wanted to be with him again. Hari, who was waiting for this moment, immediately accepted, and they went for a small walk, hand in hand, towards the beach, where Brahmachari was sitting, toasting his drink to Chappli's name, after mixing dosages of tea and whisky, and he gulped it in a minute, Meera and Hari watching in amazement laughing....
